7 of us went into Main Barracks to get out some supplies left by the other Strathconas Colin saw man who was well acquainted with Gordon. Left him all well about 2 weeks ago. Finished our work about 4 P.M. All went to Municipal Gardens and Museum. All different trees and plants of Africa in the gardens and all the varieties of animals, birds, reptiles, fish and stones and minerals in the museum. I would like to put in a few hours every day for a week going through the museum. Saw a live turtle about 2 ft. long. Strong enough shell on his back to carry to or three men. Went to Disc's restaurant on Adderly St. And had supper. Very good. Cost us 3s each. Cost about 1s in Canada. Had Rickshaw race. Bruce in one, Colin & Robinson in an other and Serg't Herron & I in the third. Bruce's man got 1st, Colon's 2nd and ours 3rd. The Serg't and I were about all our man could navigate up hill. He pulled up good in the home stretch. We got home about 8:30 P.M.
