Dear Mother

Have only a few minutes to write a note & enclose these snaps.

The group is practically all of our flight-Capt Kerr is Commander- Harvey & I are quite chummy - go out a lot together - Baldwin is a real good fellow (Cambridge) we go for a walk nearly every night. King & Baldwin are just going on leave. My turn will be coming shortly again but will likely go home to fly before it comes.

These are all taken near the mess.

These notes were all written in the air from time to time - they may be a bit interesting. I wrote them to the Pilot. Sometimes we yell out but it isn't very satisfactory - can't always hear explanations - "In Season Hah!" - I wrote this when Barker cried back that we all looked like ducks. There were several machines flying in formation. In season - because we are liable to be shot down.

"That has a streamer," we are looking for a machine taking photos to escort it across the lines. "Archie" is shrapnel from Anti air craft guns.

"Thow" - thousands

There are some signals I won't explain - we send them on the wireless key in the aeroplane - to the Battery.

Hope you are all well. The other day W. Laird & I went down to see Canadians. Willie was away so left 20 Francs with Irwin W, for him. Will answer your letters later - Rec'd papers yesterday. With love to each one

Your son
Jim.
