Paraded at 7:30 to go as escort to a convoy to Waterville. Found it was too dangerous so we went out to inspect the railroad. Went about 5 miles when we saw the Boers advance. Scouted around until we saw about 20 of them. Two Boers tried to pass through our lines on a pass. Joe Graves, Colin & I took them before the head men. Found that they were not to be trusted. 12 pickets in a scrap this afternoon. Serg't Buchanon got in.
