My Dear Mother,

Just have a few minutes until the train goes out so will scribble a line. My luggage is in the compartment, which is a 1st class, for a change, and I am now at a near by hotel having a cup of coffee.

Came up from Hythe yesterday afternoon on a special train. I went right out to Finchley and remained there ever since. Mrs Jones has not been very well but when I phoned yesterday she insisted that I come right out, so I did. Gordon was home from Oxford, having just taken his commission so we had a good time, that is, quiet. The girls were all there so we had quite a house party.

This morning we went to church but the minister was not so interesting as usual. However, it was better than not going I suppose.

Last Friday night I spent with the Reades when Col. and Mrs Hall were also there.

Well, I must rush now as my train is just due.

Much love for all.
Wilbert.

P. S. I'm off to Catterick.
