Diary

April 26 - Sunday was no day-of-rest for us. We spent the day, all hands working hard unloading scows and boat, taking everything ashore. The only way of releasing the old tub. The worst stick-stack-stow we have had yet, deep in mud. We got steaming away again, but only ran a mile, when we got stuck fast again. All hands went ashore with a long rope and after a great deal of long and strong pulling got her off, but it was nearly dark and had to anchor for the night.
