Dear Mom:

Well, here it is 1945, and still a war on. Oh well maybe it will stop soon. At last I can try to do my bit instead of doing nothing. I got two letters from you and one from Norma today written just before Christmas. Some fun. They don’t seem to take so long. However you say that you just got mine from Nov. 26. Mine must be delayed an awful lot. I have been writing regularily but I guess that you haven’t received them yet. You must be having quite a winter over there 25 below and bags of snow. You said Larry was talking about Christmas gifts, I know what he means, I had the same thing happen. Norma must have got quite a reception. What, did you have the whole clan up there?

You were talking of Christmas trees, you should have seen the one in the mess, it must have been a whole forest. What a tree. You talk about taking money for a present, for heavens sakes yes. I told you to get one and I meant it. I guess poor Harry Heisr had his troubles alright. He should be thankful that he wasn’t in the truck when it was hit.

Every time I think of it I laugh. Imagine me buying you snuggies. Brother!

Well I guess this is as usual a short letter on a shaky table. Boy when I get home I’m going to send some tables over here, just for writing. Well, solong for now, I’m going to get some sleep.

Your loving son
Jack

P.S. What is Norma’s address now?
