Went up to forward billets near guns. Otty, Kent & I go to guns and relieve the New Zealanders. The mud indescribable. Duck walks only path from billets to guns, a distance of some 1000 yds. No gun pits - only canvas cover & no protection. Remain there all night - for a 24 hr. shift.
