Dear Miss Munroe -
It was with deep regret I learned of your sad bereavement - and wish to express my sincere sympothy for you in your sorrow -
Mingled with your sorrow there must - be a feeling of pride that your friend gave his life for such a noble cause, and you have the consolation of Knowing that "Greater done hath no more than this. That he lay down his life for aworthy
I know you will be given strength to "carry on" as a good soldier and to take up your cross and carry it - with unswerving faith in One who has promised never to leave us Comfortless.
With sincere sympathy.
I am
yours sincerely
