Dear Grandmother,
Your letter came this morning before I was up, and Louie brought it to me in bed. It was lovely to start the day with its message of love. I was going to write you to-day anyway. I finished my course at Oxford on Friday, and am now here on leave awaiting gazettement - probably for a couple of weeks or so. This is a picture of myself with two of my friends Skilling and Porter. They came across with me; but were transferred from Oxford to the artillery school at St. John's Wood where this was taken when I was in London. Best wishes to all the Halifax friends. Lovingly,
Bernard
