On behalf of the Officer Commanding and Officers of the 161st C.I. B'n, I have been instructed to request you to honour us by consenting to be one of our chaperons, at a dance the Batt'n propose [sic] to give, in the first days of August.
I trust you will be able to render the Batt'n this service and honour us with the pleasure of your company.
Thanking you in advance for I hope, a favourable reply remain [sic].
