Dear Mother

Just a few lines to let you know I am O.K. and hope you all are enjoying the best of health. We are having a great time the best I have had since I struck the country. We had Fritz on the run and I can tell you it does one good. I can not tell you any more at present but I expect you will have seen it in the paper before you receive this. I think I wrote and told you I had received the cake you sent me it came at a very good time I had it for supper the first night at the Officers mess after getting my Commission the Chocolates that were with it went very good too.

Until today we had a good spell of nice weather but it is very disagreeable this evening. We are rather lucky though as we are in a deep German dug out with a nice fire and if the electric bulb was not broken we could have electric light. Fritz certainly had things fixed up fine. I suppose everybody is glad the U.S. is in the war now. Well news is scarce so I must ring off.

Write soon.

Goodbye. Charlie.
