Dear Mother

Just a few lines to let you know I arrived here on May 1st and am getting along OK and feeling pretty good. Of course I am still in bed but expect to be up soon so there is absolutely nothing for you or father to worry about.

I had a good trip across in the boat and train. Everything looks fine in the country now, although it is rather a late spring here. I am in a nice quiet part of London. After I get out of hospital I get 3 weeks leave so I expect to have quite a time. Well, news is as usual [?] so I must close.

When you write, address as below and put "please forward" on the envelope in case I have moved.

Goodbye

Charlie
