My dear Gertrude,

This must be a short letter & I must make it up later. Was on duty yesterday - a lovely day so little time indoors. To-morrow I am of course on duty all day again. & to-day is filled with packing & writing reports & altho I am off duty I played in the hockey game - the last of the term - we got up a scratch team from people in the neighbourhood to play the school eleven. The day positively warm & yet snow in places under the hedges from last week's blizzard.

Saturday was my off day & I cycled into Norwick about a 12 mile ride each way - there being two roads, one has not to return the same way. The way going very pretty some delightful villages & churches. Left immediately after dinner had my hair cut there, did a little shopping & had tea & got home by 6.30. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Had an enjoyable game of hockey to day & school even went well afterwards altho it was the last afternoons work. Found no more time tuesday for writing not even packed yet so must close for the present.

Zepps again last night - one early this morning. Will interfere with some of the early trains to morrow if they come to-night & delay some of us getting away.

With best love
Jack
