Left camp about 8 A.M. Went scouting all forenoon. Stopped for dinner 6 mile form Standerton. Cook, Campbell & I escorted a Lancer Captain into Standerton. Saw Brigadier Gen. Hamilton. Standerton is a good sized place with a lot of Boers in it. Gen. Buller has an office here. Got into Standerton about 4 P.M. Camped where the other Strathconas were camped. About 19 of the others here with sick horses. The rest of the regiment left Saturday morning. Cap't Cartwright was shot passing a Boer home with a white flag on it. Saw Clark, cousin of Hugh John.
