My Dearest Alice,

You see by the address where I am. I have been here since last Sunday but I have to go back tonight. The weather here has been beautiful, but last night we had a thunderstorm and it has been raining all day since. London looks much the same as ever except you see a great number of women doing men's work such as ticket collectors on the railroads and also on the cars. Some of the big firms have women driving their delivery cars and running elevators. It seems very funny but it is a fact. Still at the same time there are or seem to be millions of young men not in the army in London. It seems a great shame to me. It is great to watch the searchlights at night. How is the river looking now dear? Have you been out this year yet? Well dear Alice, did you have a good time at H. Crawshaw's wedding? I have enclosed a little picture. What do you think of it? I think it is just lovely don't you dear. I guess when I get home in barracks tonight I shall have some mail from you waiting for me. I will be writing to you again tomorrow night. I hope I have a nice letter from you dear when I get back tonight. I guess this is my last trip home, but I must keep my thoughts to myself because I don't want Mother to be worrying about me. Mother and Dad and my sisters are quite well and wish to be remembered to you. I saw Jock last Saturday afternoon. He was telling me that he had discovered some friends in Folkestone so he is all O.K. He is going home on leave today. Well Dear, I guess this is all for now, so I will close. Give my kind regards to all and my fondest love to yourself.

I remain

Your ever-loving boy
Bob
