Dear Sister

Was glad to receive your welcome letter yesterday. I sent one box away last Saturday will send the other the first time I go up to [?]town, but it has rained every day this week and I have not been away from camp since Monday night. I may go on Friday tomorrow night. I suppose the girls are having a good time at Glasgow I had a PC from Nettie and a letter from Ruth yesterday. I hope you are having some of the rain we are having here. I have had no word from Canada yet but I hope there will be some news soon as the boy that came over with me are beginning to get mail. I am getting as careless as I do not know what I was pulling and opening a tin at dinner time today and cut my right thumb right from the first joint up to the point. I took a u shaped out right up it does not feel too bad but I am writing to you for fear I wont be able to write for a few days and then you will not be worrying about me as you will know what is the matter but there is no danger of any blood poisoning as I got it cleaned pretty good. I hope father is keeping well and that he does go for a holiday with Mr Grant, it will do him lots of good. I expect Agnes will be pretty cross with me I never wrote to her this week yet but will try and write tomorrow if my thumb is not too stiff. I do not think it will be very bad but it may be stiff for a day or two. I will close now as I have to get ready for a night march and it will go pretty slow with one hand. I close now hoping you and the little girl are well also all the others at home as it leave me in the best of health except for my thumb. So goodbye and good luck to you and Kit until we meet again.

Your Loving Bro

Dave
