PTE. W.J. McNABB DIED IN FRANCE

Another Owen Sound Boy Makes the Supreme Sacrifice in France - Was Born at Desboro

The news of the death of her son, Pte. William James McNabb, came as a terrible blow to Mrs. Mary McNabb, on Saturday last. The young man was her eldest son and was all that a fond mother could ask for, manly, upright and God fearing, patriotic and unselfish. He was born in Desboro 30 years ago and lived there until about nine years ago when he moved to Owen Sound with his parents. He worked at the Furniture factory and at Jones' Mill, previous to enlisting in the 147th battalion and accompanied that unit overseas about two years ago. He went to France early in 1917 with a Machine Gun Corps, and remained there until his death, on October 1st last. He is survived by his widowed mother, who resides at 112 4th Ave. West, and by one young brother, Norman, at home, and four sisters, Mrs. Geo. Jones, Glaswin, Sask., Mrs. Syril Wilcox, 909 3rd Ave. East, Miss Annie and Miss Jessie at home. Pte. McNabb was a member of St. George's church and his death is not only a great loss to his family and to his many friends but to the country at large. The family will have the sincere sympathy of everyone in their bereavement.
