Mr. D.D. Dennis

Dear Sir.–

Your letter of Oct 7th to hand. I am pleased you received your late brothers pictures safely, although I can quite sympathise with the pain it caused you to get them

I regret that I cannot give you the exact location of your brothers grave. You see we were in a country district on the Amiens front and there were no towns or villages of any importance in the immediate vicinity. He was hit by shrapnel from a shell in the head and was killed immediately and without pain, before his battalion had advanced more than a couple of hundred yards on the morning of Aug 9th.

If you write to the Registry of Graves Dept. for Canadian troops in France, at Ottawa, they will I'm sure be in a position to inform you the exact spot where your brother was buried.

Allow me to again express my sincere sympathy and thank you for your kind wishes with regard to myself.

Sincerely Yrs
E. Reynolds
