Gunner S. REAY wrote from Stowlandtaft, Bury-St. Edmunds, England (Canadian Siege Reserves) to Miss Katherine Stone, daughter of Mr. J.E. Stone, Superintendent of the Cobourg Steel Company, saying that he had received a lovely parcel.

'I found your name enclosed so guess you are the one to be thanked,' he continues, 'The contents were fine and dandy and also came in handy. I sure do appreciate the gift very much.' He says that they the Canucks, Anzacs, South Africans and English troops are all in the same camp, which is well filled up. The Y.M.C.A. is full every night and it is difficult to get a seat to write home. 'The last draft from Cobourg are here with us, but I only know a few,' he adds. 'The weather at present is awful and colds are quite common amongst us. I have a beauty and cannot get rid of it. I would not be surprised if by the time that you get this I will be in France, for I am on the next draft. However, I am quite ready to do my bit for God, King and Country. I cannot remember you at all. I used to go to Sunday School quite a lot. Maybe you are a new member. Thanking you most heartily and wishing you a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.'
