Dear Lilian:

Having just arrived yesterday there isn't much to write.

I had a dandy week in Edinburgh. The two boys who were with me have friends there and they certainly made me feel at home. I have a standing invitation when I go back.

This would be a pretty good place if it wasn't for parades and other things. The mess is good and full of officers. There are a large number who should go to France before me so perhaps I'll be here two or three months at least. Several of the old 85th officers are here and some others that I knew. The first one I met yesterday was George McDonald formerly of the 185th.

Tomorrow I go on a revolver course for four or five days and some other short courses afterward. I had to go to church parade this morning.

King O'Donghue and Glady McDonald are here and are going to Bexhill for the next course next week. I wish I was going back with them.

I had some photos taken in Edinburgh and will send one when they come. I also have a snap of the platoon I was in at Bexhill to send.

I haven't had any mail here yet but suppose some will be along this week.

This afternoon I'm going over to the hospital to see one of our fellows who was wounded last summer. He has had a long siege of it.

Must go now and wash for dinner.
