My darling girl,

I got here all O.K. at 8 PM last night, called at Brandon saw Major Palmer & Mrs. Palmer, in fact I had lunch with them at the Prince Edward Hotel, I saw their Regiment on Parade & they are a fine bunch of fellows, but not up to our Battalion. I went to see Hines & he was awfully decent said he had had a little trouble with one or two of the directors re me drawing 1/2 pay while on Service but he says he'll get it put through alright, & told me that if there was anything he can do for me while I am away to be sure & let him know. Also saw Bremner & McGuiness, they were both enquiring after you.

Ted Waller & Mr Biggar are now with us & am expecting Cummings & Tom McCheyne's two cousins to come down to join us tomorrow. We expect to move in about a week. Am going to a dance tonight with some of the other officers. Well girlie keep smiling, today's paper say [sic] the war will only last six months. I hope Frank is feeling alright again. Am sending the photos, one of the officers stole one so there will only be eleven, send one to Mrs. Fitzgerald & one to Major Clingan & also Lieut McLaran at Virden.

Fondest love to you & the kiddies & love to the girls.

Your loving hubby,

Jim.

P.S. Send me that little book on Infantry training that I forgot. Please darling.
