"The Cross" Mold

My darling girl,

As you see I got over to Mold alright, also a brother officer of the name of Hedley, we got here on Saturday, Sunday morning we went to church, when reference was made to Col Philips who you no doubt will have heard was killed in the Dardanelles, Tom Parry was wounded, in fact the 5th Battalion R.W.F. in which all the Mold boys are, were very badly cut up, they lost 6 officers killed & I dont know how many men, on Sunday night we went to Pendrif , Monday morning we went to Jack Lloyd's place had a good time, Tuesday morning went to Rhyl, took a motor bus in the afternoon to Beltws y Cved [sic], returned that evening to Rhyl went to the theatre saw a musical comedy "The Cingalie" it was very good, Wednesday morning we went to Llandudno forgot to change at the Junction & found ourselves in Bangor got into a waiting train at Bangor, back to the Junction & then to Llandudno arriving there about 11-15 a m left there about 6 P M & then on to Llandyrnvg , where we spent a very pleasant evening at a friend of Jack's, this morning we left for Mold & have just arrived found your letter with Eric's lock of hair waiting for me, imediately [sic] got a twinge of conscience as I had not written on Sunday, so am now writing you this letter, Jack Price has left word that he will take us around in his car this afternoon, we dont know where yet but am going to suggest Llangollen. Will had to go to Manchester this morning to meet a traveller, Eunice will be coming with us, we are going to Lizzie's to spend the evening, tomorrow afternoon shall go on to Southport to see mother, possibly stay there the night & on to Shorncliffe on Saturday. Hedley is a Canadian an awfully nice fellow & has enjoyed his trip to Wales immensely in fact we have been blessed with beautiful weather, grand hospitality & com[pany], but alas my poor teeth, they'll have to wait until I get back havn't got time to do anything with them over here, however there are dentists attached to the Canadian A.M.C. & I guess I shall be able to get them fixed for nix. Am so glad you are going to make such a good swimmer, and I hope the kiddies will also prove to be good swimmers, all the people I have seen send the [sic] kind regards etc to you & all make enquiries. Well dearest, am writing this in quite a hurry & will write you another long one when I get back to Shorncliffe.
