Warehouse Barracks
Elinora , Feb 6,1864

My Dear Momma,

As you see by the head of this, I am in the Elinora Barracks waiting to be sent to my Regiment. There are about 20,000 men here. This is the general rendezvous for the states. I had to go clear down to Schenectiday to enlist as the quota is full further east. I am in first rate health and spirits though the food in the Barracks is none of the finest. I will write again soon with love to papa and Rhoda. I remain,

Your affectionate Son,
Donald M. Forbes
