Rev. A.M. Irwin,
Norwood, Ont.

Dear Sir.

Have just come in from a meeting held in the Parade Ground here tonight & was thinking of Norwood when I received your welcome letter from the mail carrier & I am very pleased indeed to have a few lines from my late town.

I have never felt so pleased in all my life as I opened your letter & read the contents.

Well I have been chosen as one of the first Canadian Contingent to go to the front today & we are likely to the off this week, we have been fully equipped out & we are ready for the fight & by Gods Grace we hope to win out, & to return safe home to Canada, & if we should go under why we know it was in a good cause.  the cause of Liberty & Justice which always wins out in the end.

Glad to hear the friends in Norwood are patriotic, & if a second Contingent is needed, I hope they will respond heartily to the call.

I had my sister to see me last Sunday from Quebec & showed her around this vast camp & she was very pleased she came down.

Please remember me to the boys in Norwood & give them my best wishes.

I must close now with best wishes to yourself & the rest of the Methodists in Norwood hoping you are all well & I trust will remain so

from your sincere friend in Christ God Bless you all
