My Dear Mother:-

Just a line or two to let you know that I am still alive. I am getting negligent for it must be a week or more since I wrote to you. There is not much happening. We had a holiday yesterday to attend the Corps sport[s] which were postponed on the 24th on account of the wet weather. The weather continues to be rather warm. During the past week a few enemy air squadrons have been over our village dropping bombs but so far [no] one has been hurt. They were over last night but I failed to hear anything. I was rather tired for I was on guard for the twenty-four hours previous and down there one does not obtain much sleep.

We are playing a little baseball these days. They had some ball games at the Corps sports. There were quite a crowd of soldiers around and a few nurses adorned the side lines.

None of the last parcels have reached me as yet but they should come any day now. The mail is coming very regularly. Hope you are all well. With best love from

Yours
