Dear Brother

I received another letter from you all and it was delayed because I have got some of a later date well Joe two of our Coy have died of fever Sergt Beatie & pte Blight there are a lot going sick and the Canucks are coming in for their share of sickness, but I am all right so far and feeling fine so far I was out on outpost last night and it rained all night but we were pretty safe as a man dont soldier for six months for nothing wish I was home to saw for you but when I get off this job I will be too lazy to work I think it will be pretty well on to the fall before we get back home but it just depends on our success in this next move and if we receive no severe check the 24th of May will see a big change in the situation the enemy are getting the starch wiped out of them but they are stubborn fighters old Kruger has everything ready for a shift but I would like to see him caught & Steyn I have no fresh news only our chaps caught 800 Boers & 15 guns a couple of days ago they are laying down their arms everyday they are finding out it is a hopeless case with them, I think our Batt will have to be left to do garrison duty as our numbers are getting small. Well Joe we had another funeral this morning of one of the Toronto boys died from from Extreme fever the wet weather has set in in good shape & for all we are quite comfortable in our tents well Joe as I have to write to all I will close for this time so good bye & love to all
