Dear Mother: -

Well I guess I will start to write something as I have been sitting here thinking long enough. I am sitting on some blankets and using a stump for a writing desk. I have been off parade to day as I was out scouting yesterday afternoon and all last night besides our usual parades, one of the battalions out for three or four days and we are going out tomorrow to [?] them when they are coming home tomorrow. we were told by the Col. that we are going harvesting and would get our fair paid to Saskatoon, but we have to have a job to go to and I think whoever we work for has to send the money down here so as to keep them from staying away. I am will drop a few lines to Tots about it and see when his grain will be ready. Gaylor asked me yesterday why Muriel does not write to him, but I do not think she should as he expects letters from and gets letters from some of the other girls. IF she wants to she can tell Irene to handover that photo as I said so, but if she does not want to she can suit herself. I think we will be going out for two or three days from camp next week. I have not got that parcel yet but it had been at the station since Saturday or Sunday but I do not know if things will be alright in it yet, we get paid tomorrow but I think I will take a chance and get it out. That young lad named Turner that came down with our bunch got 28 days hard labor with his discharge when he comes out for stealing goods out of the canteen. We have had over 100 men come down and join the strength of the 53rd this last week. So I guess if we are going harvesting we will not leave some a couple of months. Horden has gone to Winnipeg to take up a commission and has been attacked the the 95th in Winnipeg Mrs. King sent me a letter this week with some snap in it for H.R. but he has gone before they came and I have lost them somewhere as I have been burning some of them and I guess that is where they have gone so would you please tell her that I am sorrow, but I to excuse as I did not know his address. Bill May is going on pass for a couple of days to Winnipeg on the strength of getting paid tomorrow. You should get this Sunday night if it goes straight through Hoping to see you all before long

Love to all from

Gordon

If I come home I [?] will not be able to send any money.
