Dear Mother

Just received your letter of April 4th. Very glad to hear you are all OK as I am also. Also received $6 in the letter which will come in handy as we are near a town.

We too have had a spell of dirty weather only rain though. You want to know if the trenches are wet. No they are good now. This is certainly a nice looking country in summer. The trees are in leaf and the grass is good and green. Crops are coming up well too.

Your parcel has not arrived yet but I hope it gets along soon since PEI apples will be all right.

I am sorry to hear of Roger Farquharson's death. He was a good neighbor.

There must have been a lot of snow down there this winter. We only had about 6 inches here and it only stayed about a week which was quite long enough. You need not worry about me as I am nowhere near [?].

I will send you a late copy of our Regimental Paper in this letter. I suppose you are saving the ones you get as a couple of hundred years later they will be a good souvenir. I am looking forward to my leave very much. I thin I could enjoy a few days in "Blighty" (England) very well.

We are all glad summer is coming on as we will be able to turn in our blankets and that leaves us less to carry and in this little game every ounce counts.

Well I think this is about all for the present so I must ring off.

Write soon and let me know all the latest news

Goodbye

Charlie
