Dear Alfred

Just a few lines again asking how you are, I have not heard from you since were in hospital, so write me a few lines when you can. Andy's mother hears every week from him, he is in Belgium now. And Fred who was reported missing, has returned and is safe and well his mother was so glad when he sent her a telegram to say her was O.K. Stephen & Brian are both on the floor playing and I have a great time trying to write for the noise is tremendous, both want the same thing just like boys, always noisy. Baby Brian is creeping everywhere now, and stands up by a chair but does not walk as yet, hope the end of the year seems him trotting around, as we keep stepping on his little fingers. I had a nice long letter from Aunt Edith, she has been on a trip to New York, doing it up [?] says she had a swell time and so much to see Aunt Annie & Ella are going down to California to stay for a while with her it will be a nice trip for them as my sister has not been far away before [?] & Charlie are quite settled in their new home [?] bought a puppy dog for Myrna last week, as she is thrilled with it, they call is Daisy, Myrna is four years old now, and quite big for her age. By the paper there were quite a lot of parcels burned. I hope yours was safe as I did want you to sample our Christmas cake. If there is anything you are wanting let me know. I don't know what to send you in your parcels, as you do not ask me for anything.

I have a box of soap which I am sending as [?] Mother says your boys are short on soap but it make the other things in the parcel taste soapy, but it is in a box by itself so here's hoping. Mrs. [?] was down to visit us on Saturday and she wants to know how you are also Mrs and Miss Telfour of Rose St. wish to be remembered to you also Morris wishes you the complements of the season for Xmas & New Years. [?] next door is still up in Alaska, he says things are pretty expensive to buy up there, their canteen is close[?] so they have to pay big prices at the stores. I do not have any news as things are quiet around here. I forgot to say that Mrs. [?] dog Goldie got run over with a jeep & had to be killed, you remember him when he was here, the golden dog a bull dog she is heart broken about it, well I will close for now and try to send you another parcel next week, by by for now and best wishes for a speedy recovery with lots of love from us all
