Dear Mother:-

Just received your welcome letter yesterday with one from Phillip enclosed. I am doing a little job now as night orderly. I am on duty every 2nd night.

I went on a weekend pass to London last Saturday and took in a show called "Under Cover" at the Strand Theatre. We had our meals at the Union Jack Club on Waterloo Road.

On Monday I went to see that Mrs. Watson who used to know you when you were a little girl. She was very pleased to see me and got me to write in her birthday book which Grandma gave her one time. It had your name in it also Grandpa & Grandma. In the afternoon we went and had tea at Buszards on Oxford St. She took your address and said she was going to write to you.

Well dear I've got to go on duty now. Had a letter from Syd and Dad.

Love to all,

Jack
