Dear Mother:-

I have rec'd two letters from you this last week dated 8th and 10th of Dec.

We did not have any celebration on New Year's Day as we had to work. We all got up to see the old out and the new in. We sang Auld Lang Syne just as it struck 12.

I have not rec'd any parcel yet from anyone except that parcel of tobacco I rec'd from you but I expect to get some in a week or two if I'm lucky.

I have letter from Dad, also one from Syd saying he was well and comparatively happy.

We are still carrying on with the wood cutting and likely to be for a while.

Syd says he has rec'd five parcels, but he is luckier than I as there is a lot of delay through the battalion.

Well dear love to all.

Jack
