Letter

Monday 4/10/18.

Dear mother

Thank you very much for the letters that I got off the last convoy, I had one from you, one from Vernon & one from Emmie, & one from Hugh, that was pretty good wasnt it? I also had one from an old Lady in Edmonton, Alta. She used to pay into the Red Cross to help pay for my Parcels when I was in Germany.

It is still raining here, it started a few days ago, & I dont know when it is going to stop again.

My goodness I should like to get in on those Pigs Hugh said you were going to kill, my mouth has been watering ever since I got his letter, oh to just think of those sausage that I know you will make, & those Pork Pies.

Can the Boys still use their motor Bikes! or is the supply of Gasoline stopped, you see very few motors of any kind here, everything is very very scarce, more so than in England, Bread meat sugar, everything is on [?], & they dont get a very big ration either, I always eat my bread for breakfast & my butter, now we get two biscuits a day (army biscuits) extra from our own Goverment, the rest of the Food is supplied by the Holland Government.

Quite a lot of your last letter was cut out, about the Railway strikes, any time you put anything in about the Flyby Station it is mostly cut out, not about the accidents, but about them enlarging it, or anything of that sort I am still drawing rations every afternoon, it would not be a bad job if it was not raining near by every afternoon.

1500 are leaving the Hague & going to Leeuwarden up in north Holland, I believe it is much colder up there than here. I havent sent that photo yet, but I will this next week, when I can get something to Pack in in, I saw Heaton a week ago at a football match, he said that he had just heard from you.

Thank Vernon & Emmie for their letters, it was very good of them to write & I did enjoy their letters, Sadie must be very busy with her Red Cross & Y.M.C.A. work. when have several branches of the Y.M.C.A. here, the dont sell much except a cup of tea or cocoa, & a few small bakes & even that is very dear.

Give my love to all of the Boys & to Sadie & Emmie

I remain
Your loving Son

Tom
