Dear Folks,
I thought I would write you a few lines today before going on leave. Finished my medical exam yesterday and we are to get our pass this morning. The first thing I have to do is find Ivan. I've looked for him for two days but without any luck. I've gone to about six different places. I'm going to have a last look to-day before giving up hope. His unit is divided up into some different camps and I guess I went to them all but the right one. He may be [?] the records don't seem to know.
I've been held up a few days because of the celebration around here. It's sure nice to see the war over in this part of the world and I hope they finish the Japs soon. I intend going to London, Edinburgh and Glasgow on leave. I may go to Aberdeen if it isn't too far from Glasgow.
The weather here is very warm and it's just like July back home, I hope I don't hang around here when I get back off leave. We should get away in a couple of days.
Well I think this will be all for to-day. Cheerio for now and I'll write while on leave.
Love to all,
Gerald
