Wednesday

My dear Gertrude,

I see I will have to fall back on my B.E.F. plan of a short midweek letter - we are kept quite on the hustle here. I will let you have a specimen days program on Sunday to fortify the contention. Just at the end of two days continuous rain. so pleased & have a [?] this evening & stars out.

I think I will in future send you on any letters I may receive during the week by the post & help swell out my deficiency but will content myself with this letter card for today.

I find there are quite a lot of Canadian Cadets here & also South African but none from Australia or N.Z. at least at present.

Ian seems to be doing well - has been out in a bath[?] chair. Berk has reached his Battalion (the 1st/14th London) at least I presume he keeps his new Number 510958, so that with B.E.F. should find him.

Have not had any further letter from you

Must close. Hope all is well. Much love

Yours Jack.
