Dear Mother:-

Received two letters from you today dated June 9 & 10. Received your cable for four quid yesterday. Thanks ever so much Mother. I drew some money from the Paymaster to pay for the dentistry before I went on leave and was counting on the cable to go on leave with. I went to Wales the 20th & it came the 21st so I couldn't get it until yesterday. But I got along fairly well on leave. I stayed at a boarding house in Llandudns and met a lot of people. I ran across a Halifax chap there. We were the only Canadians there.

I went back one day to Bettws-y-coed and saw the famous swallow falls & Fairy Glen. Was also through Convoy Castle & saw the grave in Conway Churchyard which Wordsword wrote about in "we are seven".

Then I took a trip over an old Roman coach-road through Sychnant Pass to Penmaenmawr, and was also to Mount Snowdon and Llyn Llydaw. The I went down to the little town of Llunfairpwllgwyngyllgogerych-wyrndrrbul-llandyslliogogogoch what do you think of that for a name.

Then last Tuesday I came back to Birmingham and called on Charlie Adams. I stayed there the night and had a great time talking about Truro, etc.

Then that night in London I went to the Lyceum and saw "Seven Day's Leave" It was very good.

I am leaving the School of Gunnery tomorrow and have my qualifications marked as "Siege S1 W/T 1" which means 1st class Siege Signaller and wireless telegrapher, 1st class.

I have only a couple more months now but I expect to be here some time after I'm 19 since they are not sent so quickly when they are "W/T"s

In a month or so I'll be entitled to wear two blue chevrons on my arm for being on service one year out of Canada. At present I'm wearing crossed flags and a badge consisting of two wings & electricity passing through the centre.

It doesnt seem a year since I sailed but it nearly is. However I expect we'll all be home soon anyway. Hope so anyway

Lovingly
Ludlow
