Dear Sis,

Well I got your letter and it sure pleased me as there was a lot of news in it. Say what do you mean about Leila I do not know anything except that the gang had some trouble about her at the dance I was at. Let me know if anything else has happened. I did not know that George had gone across yet. you were speaking about Carrie, will they certainly were good to me, but I will put a bug in her ear. How is Mrs. Hodgon. When I write her again I have sent her one letter, but I will make it so she will not lay the blame on any of you for telling me. Who was the fellow that she was out with. perhaps it was stretched a little but maybe not. I got a letter from Aunt Laura to-day. She wants me to go out. I would like to if I can work it and I would like to go to Calgary.

We have not received our uniforms yet so I do not know when we will be able to get away. Rolie and I were in different squads he was in "A" & I in "B" but I got transferred to-day so you can send it to "A" squadron now. Rolie sure is a good pal. He is not a bit rough. That is in my estimation. But some might think that he was even as bad as myself. They use us Jake down here. They give us good grub and all we can eat of it. They are not very particular and we do not have to be in before midnight. I have written a lot of letters since I came. One day I sent four and the day before yesterday got them all back. I had forgotten to put stamps on the, I have not the least idea what we are going to do but I think there will be a move either east or west before a months time. I was going to get you a little present to night and send it with the letter but they had sold out of them at the canteen. perhaps you do not know what I mean by this well it is just like a little grocery with ice cream and things that soldiers are apt to want. They sure sell a lot of stuff, as in two days the sold over four hundred and fifty dollars so you can imagine the business they do, when they make so much selling such small articles. I suppose you know or would like to know what I was going to get. As soon as they get more in I will get you one. It is a gold locket and chain. The locket is a maple leaf with 13th Overseas Mounted Rifles on it and it makes a pretty locket. They sell for $2.25 at Black's but they sell us everything cheap it costs us $1.75 so that is quite a difference. How is everybody at home and how is Dalton and Dwight getting along at home with their crop. I sent Victor a card and a letter but have received no answers yet. you said that Myrtle and Oscar were at Careland when I went past. Well I was going to go outside then or was thinking about it but thought it would be dark and I would not see anybody that I know so I guess I must have been asleep when we past. I sure would have liked to have seen her and Oscar. I am glad she is looking better, it would be nice if they would get her to go away this summer some place. Something that would give her a change and a good time. I hope Victor's chen[?] gets along alright.

You spoke about Caspell well he was to catch the Seven O'clock train that Sunday night to go to the Hospital at High River as he had to have a operation before he could come down here. I suppose he could hardly say that he was going to the Hospital as the operation was for rupture. you need not say anything about it but if I did not tell you, you would be wondering what was wrong. He & Arch fooled around until they were to late for the train so they thought they would go to church and he caught the train on Mon night.

I got a letter from Arch yesterday. He is going with the Engineers so I guess almost everyone will be gone soon. Joe Roe is down here too. you spoke about Harry Tarue & Harry Mc. I never thought of them but must look them up.

Are you going to make your Exams alright this year? How is Nate & Jessie getting along. Well I guess I will close and will send that as soon as I can get it so good bye and write soon.

With Love from your Brother,
Hadden.
