Going through Eng. Channel. See a great many ships on each side. Breakfast : Porridge & sugar, Beefsteak and onions, bread & buns & butter & coffee. Lined up for inspection at 9:30 A.M. Dinner : Roast beef, potatoes with jackets on. Bread and butter, Rice pudding water. Men everywhere, Some gambling, some reading, some sleeping & others singing. 3 sets of bagpipes. 12 of our men appointed to police guard. Supper : Cold meat, bread & butter , Jam & Tea with sugar in it. Several of the Seaforth and A & S. H. marched around after the pipes. 12 of the A & S H and the Seaforths danced 4 hand Reel to Bag Pipes. Good dancers.
