Saturday, Sept 8th

Received a pleasant surprise this dinner time while taking a nap.- to find that Karl was standing beside me. Say I was pleased to see him. He tells me that he is staying at Seaford Camp for 3 weeks, taking a course in Pioneering-

Intend to show him round, and started to-night by attending a Concert at Y.M.C.A. Tomorrow Sight seeing. He has certainly grown. I hardly knew him. Of course I wanted to know all about the people in Norwood and how he liked Soldiering. Shall give him a few hints from my experience which will help him if he goes to France. He was taken up with the big job I am on, and spent the afternoon with me, in wonder.

Hope to spend many pleasant evenings with him,

W. J. S.
