My dear Markle

I was indeed sorry you could not come over & spend the week end with us We were so looking forward to your visit & are so afraid you will be removed to another part of the Country where it will not be possible to come to us. Do you think you could come over next Saturday & Sunday? Perhaps you may have better treatment Does the Commandant know the relationship or does he think we are just casual friends? Could I write to him personally?

If he still refuses will you come over on Saturday & have dinner tea & supper with us. My wife went to London yesterday morning & is coming back on Tuesday. She brings her father who is to make his home here for a time.

I have been down to Chapel this evening. A Dr Cochrane missionary from China was preaching & stated the case for Medical Missions with great ability I wish you had been with me to hear him. Do you get some good preaching in Basingstoke. I forgot to ask where you attended.

Perhaps you are not allowed out Our early closing day is Wedy Would it suit you better to come on that day. I leave business at 1 o/c & generally potter about in the garden. We could have a look round Reading together & I would show you the chief places of interest.

With very kind regards hoping you are going on well

Believe me

Very sincerely yours
