June 7th/16.

Dear Mrs. Platt,-

Just a line to let you know that I heard about Errol a short time ago and feel very badly about it. I shall not only miss him as a fraternity brother but as a great friend. While at Varsity I always went to him for advice and he was always able to tell me what to do and there was quite a bond between us. I know how much his friends admired him but I don't suppose we can ever realise what his loss means to you. You have my deepest sympathy and I am sure that all the members of the fraternity feel the same about it.

I had quite a spell in France but was fortunate enough to get off with a bad case of pleurisy and three months in hospital. I am getting along nicely here and am feeling quite fit again. I don't feel that I have done my duty yet and am quite ready to go back whenever they decide to send me. Must close for the present with kind regards to all,

Eric Lockhart.
