Dear Old Dad:

Did you manage to get any deer hunting in the deer season? It seems a shame you can't make that blooming trip. Never mind old man "apres la guerre" we shall have a good long hunt to-gether if I have to hang for it.

Do you remember Miss Fooks, Adrians aunt who used to play the violin. She has turned out a regular brick, every week or so she send me a dandy parcel of good eats. It is awfully good of her to do this as she hardly knows me to speak of. Also Adrians other aunt, a Miss Thrupp has been ever so kind. By gum though you would like his relatives in England. They are awfully nice people. The sort that don't expect you to be too polite or any of that stuff. When I was visiting Adrians grandmother and aunt, the former is 91 years of age, I was joking about Adrians huge feet. I told the old lady that Adrian's feet were easily three inches longer than mine. Accordingly some weeks later I received a pair of socks that might have fitted Joan. The old lady being very old didn't understand I was joking her.

I wrote to Uncle Barney last week, thanked him for his kind letter and let him know what goes down good out here. Do you know that Douglas Goudy is a lance corporal now. His regiment, in England, belongs to our division. We are writing to him and letting him try and transfer to our regiment later on.

As I write this a darned French kid is pulling - ahem - my moustache and bothering me generally. I suppose you know Adrian is an assistant stretcher bearer now.

Well old man, cheer up and write soon.

Love to you all, your loving son,
Sidney
