Dear Mrs. Thomson,

I was indeed glad to receive yours of last month, as news from home is always most welcome over here.

As perhaps Mother, has told you, I was up to see the Major a few Sundays ago, and it was certainly good to see him, also saw Major Wilson, and many of the boys. I meet a good many I have known in Canada, and if I could only spend more time with them, it would certainly be pleasant, but I hardly have time to breathe. 7 A.M. till 6.30 PM., seven days a week, is almost too much, but Red Cross men are very short in England, and I believe in France also.

The Major was very well, when I saw him, and also quite happy in his work. There is only one way to be happy here, tho, and that is not to think of home. It was hard work at first and I must admit I shed more than one tear, but when I see the positions of others, I think mine a very easy way, although very hard at that. I find few of the infantry boys tho, that would be willing to change places, when they see all we have to do.

I was certainly sorry to hear of Mr. Henry Thomson’s death. Mother told me of it at the time.

I often think of little Margaret, and wish I could tease her, but I am afraid it will be many a long day before I cross the ocean, the right way.

May you all have the happiest Christmas possible, and let us hope that the coming year will bring us relief from this terrible war.

Sincerely,
Worth.
