Dearest Pat.

I recieved your very welcome letter today which was dated April 12 the fastest airmail letter I have yet recieved. First I want to put you straight, Im not on a H.M.S. ship Im on an Canadian M.T.B. thats as much as I can tell you about it.

Theres an awful lot I could tell you about what Im doing etc but I dont think the censor would appreciate it.

Ive got myself a nickname aboard here “cowboy” because Im the only one from Alberta in the crew and all the rest are from Ontario and Novia Scotia except one fellow from Moose Jaw Sask.

I sure would like to be back there with you in Victoria and take another of our walks around the Gorge or walk into town and back (Ha. Ha.). No but all kidding aside every time I look at your picture I get a lump in my throat just thinking about you so far away. I was just saying last night to one of the boys (a very good friend of mine from Moose Jaw) that if I ever get back to you Ill never leave you again because it still all adds up to the saying that I wrote about “you never appreciate anybody until theyre gone, well right now I appreciate you more than ever.

Well Darling Ill have to sign off now because its time for me to go on watch.

All the love in the world Sweet.
Love
Lawrence

P.S. I miss you a lot too.
