Dear Wally :-
Just a few lines to let you know I received your swell letter this morning and was glad to hear you are feeling in the pink.
So I see you went down to join the Navy eh. Well I hope you like it once you get in. But I would like to see you stay home till at least I can get leave so I can make sure to see you So think it over Pal. Any way Mom and Dad need the money right now. I heard some talk that I might get leave around Christmas. But I really dont know how true it is. Was also glad to hear that your job is coming along alright. I haven’t heard from Maureen for quite some time. I expected to hear from her this trip in but I guess I shall have to wait for another couple of weeks.
I know where Dick is but as I can’t tell where he is there is no use mentioning it. I havent seen him for over four months now. I’ll bet Charlie Robinson is cursing and swearing eh. I havent seen him since I left for the coast.
As for myself I am not doing too badly. It is very quiet around here with nothing much to do in the way of excitement. I think I will go ashore and by a birthday card to send to Vivian. I have got one good thing to look forward to this month and that is a big chunk of extra pay. I get $1.50 a day now and one of these fine days I hope to be getting a $1.85. So once I get that I will be all set. I’ll be able to send more money home too.
What are you and Billie doing for excitement these days. I guess the same old thing eh. Well you have a lot more excitement than I do. My excitement is a heck of a lot different from yours though. I hope everybody back home is feeling OK? You can give them my love
Well Wally this is all I have to say for this time so I guess I shall have to close now. So goodbye for now and write soon
Your BIG Brother

P.S.
Please think over this Navy business and wait till I can get home. That is if it is okay with you. So please let me know in your next letter which I hope will be very soon.
