Perhaps this parcel when it reaches you
May give you a chance old times to review
Of "dates" around Wesley in Parlor and Hall
When strange things to "eats" were wont to befall
When cakes, nuts, macaroons laid for display
On Reading Room tables to "suckers" fell prey
The raison d'être of feuds countless and long
Which now are forgotten except in song
Since those times and "eats" you seem to survive
We know from this parcel no ill you'll derive
And we trust the "life savers" we here with enclose
Will offset the menace to a good night's repose.
But however it comes please do not mind
But believe that somewhere in its depths you'll find
Are our wishes good, sincere and true
That the war ends soon and then home for you.
