My Dear Mother:

I hope I haven't missed writing my weekly letter so you will have a two weeks gap at home. Honestly I have had the busiest week I have ever had since I joined the army. Another officer and myself have had to do no less then eight mens work So you can probably imagine we hadn't a great deal of time for letter writing. I wrote Maryon on Saturday otherwise my letters have been a wash out.

Have just finished breakfast. The time is now 845 and the post leaves at 900 so this is only a note as I will write a real letter, I hope, this afternoon.

This is about the finest place I have been in since I left England. We are all exceptionally comfortable.

I am quite well. Have received a letter from you and one from Lorene during the week.

With any luck I expect to be going on leave to England soon. - More this afternoon.
