Dear Mother

Just a few lines to let you know I am well. Christmas passed very quiet. As we will be out at New Years we expect a good time.

The weather has been pretty fair for nearly a week. The only frost we have had so far was nearly a month ago

I suppose you all had a good time at Xmas. I am sending you a souvenir in the form a the Xmas Card given to each man by the Chaplains of our 1st Division. Some time later I may be able to get a fuse of a German shell as a souvenir.

Well last night I received a parcel of bland papers. News is very scarce so I must close.

Hoping you are all well.

I remain
Etc.
Charlie
