My Dear Aunt Sahra.

Thank you so very kindly for your latest & ever welcome letter of Nov 2nd. I am just dropping you a few lines to let you know that I am still keeping quite well & fit despite "Old Fritz" We are having a comparatively quiet time of it just for the present lately I have been able to see a little more of the French people who always treat us so well & whom most of us so greatly admire. Their chief characteristics are thrift & politeness & only a personal visit could tell what they have to endure through the war. Canada, I see is again about to be in the throes of another general election on the "Conscription Issue" & I hope with all my heart it will be carried through.

I have nearly completed two years on active service in France & Belgium now "Auntie" & am not idly talking when I say I hope they shall carry on this awful but yet justifiable war to a successful conclusion. We have all suffered too much to give in to German peace terms now.

I would like to see more of the American Soldiers out here for we all have great faith in their great numbers & efficiency. Well I must close again Auntie With Wishing you one & all the Very Very Happiest & merriest of Xmas possible to enjoy & May god bless you all.

Your Loving Nephew
