Thursday September 21 to Sunday September 24, 1916

Time has passed very uneventfully here in the rest billet. We expect to move; and also receive re-enforcements sometime before we go in again. We continue to deliver fearful blows at the Germans. It will all help toward an early peace so no one begrudges hardly anything.

I have bee promoted to full Corporal, not bad for a first step. P.S. Promoted on Saturday September 23rd. 26th baseball team beat the 24th team 16-7 on Saturday. We had a good battery but a faulty field. The 24th battery was weak, but their field was very good.

Capt Dennison, the "Y" man is a splendid fellow. In spite of advice to the contrary he has opened nightly 10 minute services, - 3 or 4 songs, a bible reading with a short talk, and aclosing prayer. His little class is growing steadily. God speed him in his work.
