Wednesday September 27, 1916

Yesterday morning, a working party from the 26th got up at 5 and went 5 miles out for fatigue work. When they got back at night, the poor fellows feet were badly blistered and they were tired out. Last night, C and D Co's of the 25th, next to us in the lines, were called out at 9:30 for a working party. It was really to stand to, a handy force to support the Canadians who were repulsed 6 times yesterday.

We got up at 5:30 a.m. and just stood to, all day, expecting to leave at any moment.
